Optimal Field Service

 

 

     This solution is an extension of the Optimal Sales & Merchandising solution and covers the additional functionalities regarding the complete management of high value assets and POSMs and the automation of the activities performed by the professionals that service these assets and POSMs.

 

     The mobile service representatives use Pocket PC-type mobile devices in order to track the maintenance activities for high value assets and POSMs and, just as for Optimal Sales & Merchandising, the system manages daily visiting routes to the service locations.    

     The solution has 3 modules:

  • BackOffice server, which stores all the data on assets/POSMs ;

  • mobile client (Pocket PC), which allows the service representatives to enter on the field data on the activities performed, including tracking of the changed spare parts and planning the activities for the following visits.

  • communication between Pocket PC and BackOffice modules, either online through GPRS/CDMA services, cable or through Wireless LAN, when the service representatives return to the head office
     

     The following activities may be tracked for each asset or high value POSM:  

  • Reception of assets or POSMs – this activity may be performed either using a Pocket PC, or directly from BackOffice

  • Redistribution/Reassignment of assets or POSMs – after initial reception, the assets may be redistributed or reassigned to different locations

  • Installation of assets or POSMs in different locations – it may be performed both form the BackOffice and from the Pocket PC modules

  • Maintenance of assets or POSMs – performed regularly by the service representatives using Pocket PCs, with tasks such as spare parts replacement and other service activities performed on site by the representatives being tracked in the system.

     All data collected on site by the mobile service representatives will later be converted in useful reports that help improve the service activities and the management of the assets and POSMs under the responsibility of the service representatives.

    

     The Optimal Field Services solution was implemented at Ursus Breweries.
